I remember my GCSE days how much I enjoyed every assignment, especially writing newspaper front pages. My teachers often told me I had a talent for writing, but back then, I never imagined I would one day write my own book. In fact, I never dreamed I would complete a university degree and finally feel that sense of accomplishment of being truly educated.
When I completed my four-year degree, especially after pouring myself into endless as-signments, I felt something I never expected amazement, shock, and a deep pride that I had come this far. An inner voice whispered that this journey needed to be written, that my story was worth telling.
Balancing a full-time job, a full-time family, and a full-time university degree was the greatest challenge of my life. I once believed that giving birth to and raising my six children was the hardest thing I would ever do, but each phase of life introduced even greater trials. And yet, through it all, I kept going.
This triumph was monumental it was more than just earning a degree. It was the journey of transforming from someone who once struggled with GCSEs to someone who fought for education and found her voice through writing. That is why Triumphs of Tenacity exists. Because every challenge, every obstacle, and every triumph led to this story.
On Writing
Writing Triumphs of Tenacity was a deeply enjoyable yet demanding process—each stage introduced a new challenge. Initially, I aimed for a 20,000-word novella, but as I wrote, the words kept flowing, the chapters expanded, and the story grew beyond what I had imagined.
Editing became a journey in itself. With each revision, I revisited previous chapters, refining and strengthening the narrative to enhance its impact—following my editor’s guidance every step of the way. The true test, however, came with the publishing process. Proofreading became a cycle of careful review, again and again, before submission. Then came the second round, followed by the final round, ensuring that every word was polished to perfection before approving the manuscript for publication. It was an entirely new experience—one that taught me the depth of dedication required to bring a book to life.
Since embarking on my MA in Creative Writing, I’ve realized that editing is at the heart of writing. The craft isn’t just about putting words on a page—it’s about shaping, refining, and perfecting until every sentence carries weight and meaning. This process was a revelation, reinforcing that writing is not just about telling a story—it’s about telling it in the most powerful way possible.
“Writing is more than words; it is the courage to tell your story. I hope Triumphs of Tenacity inspires you to embrace your own journey with resilience and determination.”
